Default Please Explain this forum

This forum has the feel of a sponsored forum.

Or perhaps a forum set up by arrangement with Mason, so that Bob has a place to post.

I think it is great that Bob is here at 2+2 again, but if you had asked me to list the 50 most likely next forums to be created, I would not have included "Legislation."

There have been a lot of requests for a Tax forum, I guess this will be it.

ps: Bob, post in "Books" too.

Hi Beer:

Bob Ciaffone sent me an email asking if we would be interested in starting a forum like this. We discussed this internally and concluded that it was an idea that had merit, so here it is. As for Bob, we hope he spends (and enjoys) his time here (as well as some of our other forums). But he is not employed or compensated by Two Plus Two Publishing LLC in any way.

Best wishes,
Mason

I think this forum is a terrific idea. I’m not sure this is the right place to post questions that apply to the professional poker player. All of us that visit 2+2 are poker players of one level or another. We need to promote poker to anyone that will listen as far as laws go. We should also try and stay abreast of changes in the legislative landscape that affects us. Very few of us are professional poker players. Pros have a different set of concerns than most of us.

Maybe a new forum for professionals is needed, but in the meantime, I say those issues should go under something like “Poker -> Other poker”. I’d probably read the pros forum, but I’d hate to see this one get cluttered up with non-legislative issues.

Just my opinion…

I am not trying to promote a particular internet site, and am doing this because it is a subject that greatly interests me. As you will see from my postings, I am interested in helping the players, and protecting them against unfair prosecution is my #1 priority.

You have written a lot of great articles about player's rights and casino rules that are still available online at CardPlayer.com.

Can you recommend to the newbie which of those articles would be the most useful in understanding these issues?

Actually, I think this forum probably should be renamed to addres all legal issues, not just legislation. Already, many people are posting here with general legal questions, it seems.

Welcome, Coach!

I had an unrelated question -- in the Etiquette section of your Poker Home Rules, you list the following action as a violation:

[ QUOTE ]
Agreeing to check a hand out when a third player is all-in.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is kind of an understanding amongst the people that I play against in my home games. Would you please clarify whether you are saying that a verbal agreement is the violation, or the act itself?

I know this isn't really the forum for this kind of question, so please feel free to reply privately to me at TexasJWP if you'd like. Your insight would be most appreciated. Thanks.
