I'd bet closer to the pot on the flop. He might be interpreting your 2/3 pot bets as weak uncertainty about your hand.

I think I'd make the hero call here and snap him off. This is a great board for our kicker. KK and AA are unlikely, the only thing I can see him conceivably having that beats us is 88.
