Default Re: Things it took me a while to learn part 10, Poker, variance, and l

being a very small stakes american player trying to build
up a bankroll, i concur that cash games require way more
skill than their cheap counterpart tourneys. the $1 tourneys
on stars - - - all in's with J4o, all-in's til busted or
chip leader, etc... can be irritating...

also totally concur with the well-rounded approach to life.

my wife has officially informed me -- she has heard my
last poker story. i couldn't even get out my latest
Royal Flush story... :-)

as far as coaching goes -- i love this idea -- or at
least have someone sweat you... even if it's the janitor.

i hate playing in tourneys for X hours -- only to make a
blunder that costs me the tourney -- a blunder where, had
i been thinking out loud, or had someone looking over my
shoulder, would've been easily able to help me make the
right decision. i found just talking over my own tourney
rules with my son helped to bring them back into the forefront
of my mind -- just to be aware helped a bunch.

Thanks for the posts, Bond.
