gamble4you talked about "the core of poker" in his well post. Can you elaborate on this?

How often do you do odds calculations to work on game theory type things? (things similar to your post on restealing from short stackers)

Do you have intentions of moving passed 25/50?

Where do you live?
How old are you?
Are you a student?
What's your next 5 years look like?

[/ QUOTE ]

no idea what the core of poker is, if i get a chance ill reread his well.

i do calculations whenever im unsure abuot a spot, ive been doing it more and more lately because it is important to know the math and you often plug leaks/find missed EV.

If you're ever unsure about a hand open pokerstove and play around with ranges. What range does he need to make my play profitable? How far off my required equity am i? How does my equity differ vs different ranges? How much FE do i need? How much equity do i need to make this a profitable play? what % of his range is he folding? these are all questions you can ask yourself about every day situations.

For example, take some random situation, say calling the flop and say to yourself, well what if i raised? Play around with math and ranges and all of a sudden you have a new weapon in your arsenal.

not sure if i will move past 25/50. I certainly want to be comfortable (and have the roll to be) playing in soft high stakes games tho.

next 5 years: hopefully grinding poker and traveling. maybe starting a business. enough money to basically retire by then.

How do you react to 3-bets OOP (either EP vs BTN, CO vs BTN or SB v BB) against a nitty (say 18/15 [datamined so you have no actual reads]) regular? Like, what hands will you call/4bet, and what do you think your ratio is for real hands:bluffs?

[/ QUOTE ]

im probably nittier than most with calling 3bets and would def just play solid unless i had a reason to do otherwise (but then we would have other reads).

depending on positions id def 4bet all of my range sometimes and almost always Ak. I might muck TT sometimes and usually call pairs above that sometimes 4betting. if we have set odds id consider calling with small pairs too.

if he's one of those robo 3betters then id obviously play a little differently.

they're not nearly that important and vary greatly depending on how you play.

Yes, but down here we wonder how winning MS/HSNLers play

At least I guess thid is the reason for these stat enquiries... people are wanting a general impression of how you play, not a magical stat to reach for, imo.

Hopefully will be a great well.. please keep it open for several days as Metetron did.

TY for doing this, Skier_5.

I kinda realize that and it's not exactly what I meant. I mean there are hsnl and msnl players with all stats. lags, tags, nits and many styles are profitable.

Stats like AF are often gonna be determined by action on previous streets or your gameplan on future streets. Like if I never 3bet preflop my flop AF is gonna be a lot higher than if i do because not only do I have more strong hands, but I can bluff raise with a higher frequency.

Though I suppose if I do something different and unique and have an AF out of whack because of it, I suppose that wouldn't be a bad way to find out about it. ie ultra high river AF or something.

fav live experience would have to be my tourney score. the final table was televised, but that kinda sucked, but I had a big stack during most of the late stages of the tournament (until i got overflushed with 12 left for like 25% of the chips in play or something K hi vs nut) and its just great to push people around and apply pressure.

close second would have to be at TS in august where i ran sick hot at 10/20 uncapped and won like 13k in a few hours of 10/25 and the game wasnt sitting insane deep or anything.

favorite movie would probably have to be old school

Now that is interesting, in light of the Absolute scandal I have been giving considerable thought to ultra-high river AF... basically perfect TOP play (or superuser cheating) generates an infinite river AF ... but then so does trusting your reads and going with them, maybe?

Is it a lack of faith in / accuracy of reads that leads to any hint of passivity once all the cards are out?
