I honestly couldn't tell you what side you were on in that thread, but I'm guessing you dissed LBJ or else you wouldn't have mentioned it.

I don't really keep tabs on who think what, I just react to what people say in each thread. You said VMart > Posada in this thread, which is stupid, so I flamed ye.

as far as who had a better year i think its a lot closer than you stat boys will allow. u guys really just think rbis are useless?

They aren't completely useless. Obviously, most of the time, a guy with a good RBI total is going to be a pretty quality hitter. But they're so dependent on other factors that they really shouldn't ever be used as a way to compare two players, especially when superior metrics are available. For instance, here's how useless RBIs can be:

Player X
634 AB
.232 AVG
.290 OBP
.391 SLG
24 HR
48 BB/93 SO
115 RBI

Do you really want this guy on your team?

No. Stats like VORP show you how well a player played compared to a replacement level player. It's a very robust summary of a player's year.

he is better than casey blake. and probably better than the worst player on nearly all teams. so yes, he will help most team.
