So not true. The '72 Dolphins are not widely recognized as the best team ever, since other teams were more dominant and had larger MOV. The '72 Fins were +214 points, or about 15.2/game.

The '85 Bears were +258 or about 16.1/game. The Bears also blew out all three teams in the playoffs (21-0, 24-0, 46-10) while the Fins won three relatively close games (20-14, 21-17, 14-7).

Added together, the '85 Bears are generally considered to be better than the '72 Fins even though the Bears were 'only' 15-1.

So far, the Pats are already an absurd +204 points, or 25.5/game.
