I don't know about christians delusions, but in my case it has been many many decades, although in the early days I was very genuinely interested, mostly due to my background (education and family) and I am still waiting! Well, not really, not waiting anymore. Soon or later you have to move on. Give the dude a chance and if he fails, well, that's it, your life is short. It allowed my to explore many different alternatives and explore and come to a way of life that is a lot less barbaric and nowhere as hopeless as having to rely on the goodness of a manifestly evil god.
