In villains defense his preflop play was standard, flop call was questionable as he only has one pair and no draws and your preflop 3bet range is AA-JJ,AK; he could expect to be ahead of MP but not you. That said when you check the turn your hand range is AA,KK,JJ,AK (your hand really doesn't look like QQ), if he pushes he's folding out your JJ and AK so I really don't think his turn play was that donktastic as you have JJ,AK more often than you have AA,KK. Its still a -EV bluff.

Does everyone realize A9=AA except the 5% of the time he spazzes out and pushes Q/x?

This is also why we shouldn't post results. My fault. Just because he showed up with a worse hand here does not mean that a call is +EV. We could obv. call in the future with this read. You can't just say, OMG call call call without saying....this is what I think his range is, this is how I think it is weighted. |

So you would fold A9, but call with AA?
I didn't mention EV in my post at all I highly doubt he shoves anything between Q/x and 9/T more than 5-10% of the time. I also don't think he shoves AQ here. I also would personally call with A9+. Anything worse than A9 I think gets into -EV territory just because he'll do a stupid "bluff shove" with some random PP or bottom pair and be ahead. |

I definitely see people, decent players even, shoving AQ here, especially AsQs. I'd snapcall this on the turn BTW, you'll be surprised by what you see so often (as you were in the actual hand). People do stupid things in 3-bet pots.

I haven't read the thread but he probably has 99, 77, AQs/AQo, KQs most often which makes this a call to begin with. The insta-shove probably makes things closer to a fist pump call since I rarely think he's going to decide to insta push the turn with the set if you check.
