I never know went i should or should not call in the blinds with Marginal hands. I 4 table 50nl 6max in this is on thing i never understood.
For example i have 89 suited in bb , CO raises 4bb (has full 100bb stack) , Button (also 100bb stack) calls. SB folds, Do i have pot odds/implied odds to call here out of position? What are the odds you need to make a call with a hand like this. What about with an unsuited connector like 78 or unsuited gap connector like 64. When do you have odds to call with hands like those from the blinds. What about if the hands are folded around to CO who calls, Button calls and i;m in the SB, What odds do i need to complete from the SB with any two cards? Please Help i have never know what do in these situations. |

run.... you are not going to make money the long run playing marginal hands out of position.. it does no good to your game or your win rate..
if you play a hand from that position it should almost always be a raise... or a top quality hand.. |

Calling with any of those hands is terrible. Suited connectors are not a good hand to play OOP. At these stakes, you are better just folding because players will fold to you less often. And if you raise, dont do it into a raiser with two other callers when you have 67s.

I feel bad now
I was simply referring to the fact that um you should read stickies as this type of threads are annoying and its gonna get locked. As to the question. It depends. Its ok to call with hands like 98s in BB with several people in the pot because you have a good relative position postflop and a good price. But only if you are confident you are good postflop OOP. And either the original raiser is tight enough to get some implied odds or bad enough that you can out play him. Its ok to fold it preflop if you play several tables and dont want trouble. 3betting is also very good, but you need to be very selective who you do it to. |

Basically what i was after was how do you work out the odds you need in a situation like this to call?

Basically what i was after was how do you work out the odds you need in a situation like this to call? [/ QUOTE ] The guy who said read the stickies was right-- theres a SPECTACULAR post that someone made about this, maybe it was in the small stakes forum I dont remember. But basically, the odds dont matter, in most situations you probably have odds, but again, thats irrelevant. The thread in the sticky wrote about how hands like these have a pretty marginal effect on your overall win rate-- maybe 1 BB/100 or something small like that. Obvioulsy if you're asking whether you have odds to play these hands, you shouldnt be playing them, since the marginal benefit of 1 BB/100 does not compensate for the fact that you might not be comfortable playing them out of position. If you dont know how to play them out of position and you give up on average 1.5 BB/100 playing them, and on average you're only gaining 1 BB/100 by playing them correctly-- you are losing .5 BB/100. Did I explain this decently? Someone whos read the thread im referring to tell me, haha. I think i got the basic idea in there though |
