There's a lot of basic, sappy schlock in it, but some things that might be useful to some people.

For example, most of my guy friends feel the need to fix the problems that their girlfriends/wives complain about. Instead of simply listening and empathizing, they offer suggestions which are not always what's needed during these venting sessions.

Sometimes, unfortunately, you just have to listen. But if you really understand the woman in your life then there are ways to derail the whine train.
