I don't like your 3 bet at all. You will get all worse hands to fold and a clever TAG wouldn´t 4 bet you with AA KK and 88. Call his flop raise and check-call the turn. Block bet or check call the river.

your flop 3 bet is terrible. im guessing you are never, ever ever doing this with less than AK.

it lets him play pretty much perfect poker against you.

Looks like an easy fold given how much you have blatently over-represented your hand. You've told him you have AK tied or beat, and he really doesn't care.

What if you dont 3-bet the flop? I imagine the action would go:

You call the flop raise. $450 in pot. Turn blank. He bets $400, you call. River, blank. He bets pot $1200, you call/fold.

Doesnt the flop 3-bet save us money against 88? I suppose if he has AQ, we get at least a river call out of him when he checks the turn through. I guess there's some amount of time he just bluffed the flop with air too. Other than these situations, why is a flop 3-bet all that bad?

w/out 3 betting this flop, a good player will stack you everytime. there's no need to milk a tag because he will not go off w/ an A-Q anyway. take what you can get on the flop and find out where you're at.

9-handed, this is a fold.

actually a good player will stack your a-k no matter what. just be glad this guy probably didn't wanna gamble w/ his 88.

I would probably call here expecting at least a tie. If he has 88, why isnt he just smooth calling your 3-bet and get it in on the turn. (maybe because you know that..)
