bankroll management is for poker players without real jobs....so i dont waste my time thinking about it

Wtf, useless post of the day.

To Primo, I think DaveT May have meant regular speed games, maybe he did not. I would agree 30% roi at 33s is pretty much impossible over 500 games, but 30 regs it is possible IMO.

No, Chicago, I meant over-all. The effect of facing better competition is difficult to measure in option #3. Unless it is blatantly obvious that you screwed up the match, you loose, drop back down, win, lose, drop. This cycle continues. You wouldn't know for sure if you are truly unlucky or if you are being out-played.

I do agree that maintaining 30 ROI at turbos at any level is very difficult to maintain. But I don't know what a really good ROI is for turbos. I don't know what I meant when I wrote that really. I know what I can do in the small stake regular games, and that is all I have to go by. I would be dillusional if I thought I could maintain my win-rate in the 30s.

20 is pretty big. 25% possible.

Higher limits cut those numbers in half or even take 1/3 of them if you're talking really big games.

I play HU PLO8 sng's and i'm not comfortable with moving up unless i have at least 100 buyins. I waited till 1000 for 10s, 2000 for 20s, 3000 for 30s, and 5k for 50s

If you are supposed to be good enough to play 100s, then there is no reason why you or I cannot wait until we have 10K which is a very safe amount to play at that level.

It isn't a matter that you can't wait, it is a matter that you shouldn't if you can safely move up sooner. If you can pull in $2/game average at $10 buy ins and $4/game average at $20 buy ins, there is no reason to not move up once your bankroll is "safe" enough.

If you know you are a winning player, with a bankroll of $400 you can easily take a shot with 1-3 buy ins at $20 and drop back down if you are lose. It isn't enough that you will go busto, but it can give you an early boost into building your roll if it kicks off well.

If you get a decent start you would end up getting to $2000 in half the games. In real circumstances the jump in average profit probably won't be that big, but it is still significant enough that it is worth a try.

Daniel Negreanu wrote an article that is kind of on this topic, some of you might find it to be an interesting read:

I'm starting to become a Larry, but it isn't really by choice.

Indy gave the best advice he could in LC thread. Treat yourself as a grinder, not as a gambler. Johnny is a gambler, Larry is a grinder. I am a gambler, have to change that.

I think theres a major misconception of Indys "grinder" and "gambler" comparison.

Its not gambling at all trying to move up asap even if you dont know whether you can beat that limit yet. It would be gambling if you stayed there after you found out that you cannot beat it.
