I don't even know the guy at all and have never talked to him once but the replies in this thread really made me shed a tear as gay as that sounds.

Lurker get well my friend, get well.

Get well Lurker. Thanks a lot to Mat for going the extra mile and talking to him personally. Any chance you might be willing to unban him after a few days?

good job drizzle, i didn't see this thread until so late and just wanted to emphasize what others have been saying...

lurk, i'm sure lots of people have been through this kind of a phase (myself included) where they think that suicide might be best...simply put, like others have mentioned, plz reconsider while u still have options...

i wish u well in getting past this and don't forget that this is a low point and things will get better, please don't forget that things get better

I like these suicide posts because with all the responses it convinces me that people do care. And I always carry a glock in my pants and its so comforting to know its always an option. People who dont fear death are my fav <3

hey lurker its morning. I don't know if you are still going to see a therapist, but please do. You'll thank yourself so many times that you did.

I'm 20, and have had the same best friend in RL for about 16 years, since we were about 4. He tried to kill himself a couple years ago, and thankfully didn't succeed. He's so much happier now, and while it took a lot of hard work, his problems have gotten like 1000% better.

Don't be afraid to tough through the change, you can do it. The potential for change always exists. I'm rooting for you.

Danny

PS:

Think of this like a fcked up +EV equation. Ending your life has a EV of 0. Do you really think the sum of the rest of your life is going to bring you negative happiness? You have so many more years ahead of you, so many different things. Life has problems, but they can be overcome. There's no way that an the rest of your life is less than 0 in happiness EV. I wonder if that made sense, hope so.

Good thread, good responses.

I approve of Mat banning him, but I dont agree that the internet is a cold scary place necessarily. When my wife left me last year I literally came home every night and drank myself onto the floor. I had one special spot on my stairs where I would pass out half-blind one eye staring out the window at the porch, which was overgrown with weeds. I had to quit poker because I started open-pushing in donkaments and punching holes in the walls. I stopped eating etc. The only thing that kept me from complete breakdown was a few proactive friends and coming to work every morning and firing up bbv and laughing at people like grimstarr and EM2, and the real humanity and cleverness displayed by sickos like Nath and Gild and DDY. This community kept me sane, and possibly alive, and now my life rules. Like goofy said, you can endure anything, you are stronger than you think.

I hope to god we can do that for you too Jake. Get well, one morning, one afternoon, one night at a night.

Bro, I know I didn't pm you that torrent link the other day for you to waste it...

Lots of people have had tough times in their lives - I certainly have - and like many people I've thought to myself that there's not enough out there to make me keep wanting to be here.

It's kind of normal to feel like this once in a while - everyone has a down moment. If it's been going on for a long time then yeah your head is messed up and you need some good therapy / medicine. Remember that 'therapy' doesn't have to only be you sitting in a chair talking to someone. It can be anything that makes you feel better about yourself and the world, and helps you see your life in a more positive light.

It sounds gay but go and volunteer at an animal shelter or something like that. Anything that makes you feel like you have a meaningful place in the world.

Good luck getting out of this hole. You will.
