Default 4/180 Down to 26, steal attempt played back at

Down to the last 26. I've been very quiet for the last 10 mins ormainly due to the table being active.

No real reads on villain but he's getting desperate with his stack size.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t600 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Hero (t9435)

Button (t5815)
SB (t4600)
BB (t9795)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Now I ran this past a few mates and they all said my PFR is too big but considering there is 50 antes a piece I think it is ok. Am I right in thinking whatever my standard raise is add half the value of the antes on top? Same mates suggested that I should raise 1500 then fold to a push, this is surely wrong. Getting 3/1 I have to call right unless I know he has 88+

First you pretty obviously have to call here getting a zillion to one.

Secondly, your mates are partially right, your raise in general is too large. I find that for whatever reason 1600 gets called less than 1500, and that's my usual raise size at this level unless it's just getting no respect. I'm not really crazy about trying to steal from the HJ here with suited connectors given the relatively small stacks behind you and that your stack is getting dangerously low. Button and SB especially are going to be shoving a pretty wide range, and even the BB is pretty desperate....this just isn't a very good spot to steal in. I think the prudent play PF would be to fold given those factors, and preserve your stack to retain resteal FE and make it so that if you do get a great hand and double it will give you a nice working stack.

As played I would call. I think you need to make this decision long before you decide to raise, then adjust your range accordingly. Even if you only raised 1500-1600 you would still be getting better than 2:1 on a call, and I’m not sure if I could fold there either.

Raise less 1500 to 1800, if you rasie at all.

Here you forced to call and take your chances.
