On Friday someone told me the greatest thing I've ever been told in a poker game. I raise A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in the HJ, tight passive crappy guy 3bets the button which is great news for me because I'm dominated 100% of the time here.

Flop A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I bet because I want to see what's going to happen and playing wacky is always fun. He raises and I contemplate folding immediately but then recall a situation in which he raised on this sort of flop and then checked both the turn and river with what I assume was TT-QQ so I call.

Turn is a black 7 and I check/fold face up. He tells me "I don't get you Sean, sometimes you 3bet with pocket 5s and other times you fold top pair". Not only does it make me happy that my style of playing (non-retarded) confuses him, it also makes me absolutely ecstatic that he is one of the better players in this game (he is horrible) yet his thought process is apparently more primitive than that of a baboon. I guess I am supposed to start folding pocket 5s to a raise when they are the best hand and calling down with top pair when it is clearly the worst hand. All this time I thought poker success was measured by how well you played and the quality of your decisions, it turns out that it is measured by the power of your hand at showdown according to some magical chart that I have never seen with no regard for what your opponent might have.

Also today I discovered something unusual. Apparently it is possible to leave a casino with MORE money than you started with. I just need to repeat tonight about 30 more times and things will be square again.

Bob, you need to be good here 4.5% and are folding because you put him on specifically one runner runner higher boat than yours combo. obviously he hask Ak a [censored] ton here, but this is live poker and straightforward tags do weird things. Today at commerce one two, a straightforward super tag who misses tons of value happened to play one hand really weirdly mutliway and made me fold the best hand on the flop, which i never do. Here there is even a flush draw to add some more combos to his range. obviously some strech has to be made to give him hands other than AK, as he would have had to make a weird/bad play along the way. But the great thing here is when you only need to be good under 5% to show a profit, you call profitably call because live players and poker players in general occassionally so dome weirder stuff.

meth-head jackpot winner from previous Canterbury posts in this thread is near busto playing 8-16 tonight. Fingers crossed that he hits another one before he goes perma-bust.

Also, lost 200 hundred tonight, but was stuck like 1600 at one point. Luckily the fishies decided that they wanted to play sh which was a god send. Played 4 hrs of 5-handed. Confidence slowly building.

If prf is willing to 4bet AKo on the flop, I don't see why he can't do it with AQdd, AJdd, ATdd and raise 44 preflop even a portion of the time.

Sometimes terrible players need to understand what it is that makes them so terrible. It won't make them better players, it will just confuse them as it did in this case.

Yeah this is why I try to never show my hand unless I have to, because it is pretty much always to rub it in some retard's face. One of the nice things about Commerce is that I don't know that many people so unlike Ocean's where I talk a lot I can just sit there quietly. This helps because then I don't feel compelled to show my hand ever. However sitting there quietly also probably makes Gabe think that I'm like some insane serial killer or something.
