Default level 3 KQs hand

Hi everyone,

Just looking for thoughts on the way I played this. Around 50 players registered in a live MTT. The CO have played like a maniac since I moved on the table. We are about even in chips at this point.

It's folded to the CO, he call...I look at KQs on the button I make it 4xBB, sb and bb fold CO call.

Flop is 9-2-5 rainbow. The CO check I bet half the pot he call. The turn is a J, CO check I bet half the pot...he call river is a 4. CO check I check.

Thoughts?

His call preflop should probably let you know unless you hit the flop you're going to lose this hand.

Besides that: You should be check/folding the turn. He called your flop bet on a rainbow board. It's likely he has something that beats your King high. Too many people these days overplay KQ.

All boils down to check/folding the turn.

Yeah I guess you're right and should have known I was behind then...I forgot to mention that he went in the think tank for a good minute before calling my flop bet though...thats what led me to betting the turn as well...it probably shouldn't have changed anything?

I don't really think so. Sometimes this is just a slowplaying move or sometimes it's nothing at all. Any ace or pocket pair he has beats you. Your hand isn't good. Let it go.

I agree, only mistake was not checking the turn. Although villain "went into the tank" on the flop, he could have been acting/trapping with a monster. After the jack on the turn gives you a gut-shot, I see no reason to bet here. If you get raised, you have to lay down a draw that if you had hit could have been paid off very well by a slow-played set or overpair. Also, if you were willing to bet the flop and the turn, maybe you would have been better off making a stronger bet on the flop. If he calls you then, you have better information on the strength of his hand.
