Damaso Garcia was my favorite player when I was like 9, and I have no idea why.

Doug Dascenzo (sadly, a better pitcher than hitter, but he played CF)

U. L. Washington, that toothpick was awesome. "U.L." stands for...nothing. His legal name is U.L.

Ha ha. I was playing poker one night with a few ballplayers on the road and had a toothpick.
One of the guys decided to call me U.L. for the rest of the season.

Pat Tabler. Lifetime .220 hitter, but like .450 with the bases loaded.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually he was a .282 career hitter - you seem to think he was worse than he was. He did hit .489(!) career with bases loaded, but then again it was only 109 PA and most people do significantly better with the bases loaded anyway.

The only player ever to hit a baseball out of the old Busch Stadium in 40 years during a game - Mike Laga. From the St Louis Post Dispatch:

[ QUOTE ]
There was journeyman first baseman Mike Laga hitting a foul ball into a flower bed on Sept. 15, 1986. No big deal except that the flower bed was outside Busch Stadium and his foul ball was the only ball -- fair or foul -- to ever leave the stadium.

[/ QUOTE ]

Mike Laga only had a .199 batting average and 16 career home runs in 423 at bats but with one swing of the bat niched himself a place in all time Cardinals history.

Thank you,

Jim Kuhn

Tim Stoddard

Only guy to win a World Series ring and an NCAA final four championship in basketball.

[/ QUOTE ]

He was also in "Rookie of the Year." He's the opposing pitcher when Henry gets on base and keeps saying "Pitcher's got a big butt."
