I'm blatantly copying ajmarjarine here, and hopefully my poll isn't too messed up as I've never tried to make one before. But here goes.
Hero is running 19/17/3 over about 100 hands at this table. Button is 9/2/1.2, SB is 30/12/3, BB is 14/7/2 UTG: $12 UTG+1: $68 Hero (CO) $50 Button $23 SB $114 BB $50 Hero is dealt Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG Folds, UTG+1 Folds, Hero... |

I'd prefer if this was a 'play along' hand and you did one street at a time.

i dont understand these responses. first of all i was taught that you never open call when ur playing 6-handed, either raise or fold. this does not seem to be the hand to raise with. not only is position terrible, but even if u flop top pair, the kicker is so weak. flopping a four flush will have you chasing against odds, possibly losing more money. same goes for a gutshot draw.
not sure why so many people said to raise preflop with this.. i am a newbie, so im not saying im right, just dont understand the rationale |

i raised pf, raised flop, folded turn.
edit: i usually get pretty worried when donks go on about their business with the little bets as if nothing just happened. |

first of all i was taught that you never open call when ur playing 6-handed, either raise or fold. this does not seem to be the hand to raise with. [/ QUOTE ] Meh limping in certain spots is fine. This isn't one of them. [ QUOTE ] ot only is position terrible [/ QUOTE ] We're CO with a nit on the button and a nit in the BB. It's probably profitable to open almost ATC here. [ QUOTE ] but even if u flop top pair, the kicker is so weak. [/ QUOTE ] With a hand like Q9s we aren't looking to play big pots with a single pair. The value in this hand isn't coming from the strength of Q9s although it is a hand that plays pretty well and pretty easily. The value in this hand is coming from blind steals, position, and lastly deception. [ QUOTE ] flopping a four flush will have you chasing against odds, possibly losing more money. same goes for a gutshot draw. [/ QUOTE ] Hero will most likely be in position and certainly won't be chasing without odds. [ QUOTE ] not sure why so many people said to raise preflop with this.. i am a newbie, so im not saying im right, just dont understand the rationale [/ QUOTE ] We will usually steal the blinds here. When called we can pick up the pot without making a hand easily most times. Q9s makes a number of big hands that you may get paid off with. |

can you explain why this is an out of position preflop raise? [/ QUOTE ] The CO is hardly out of position. Our position gets even better by the fact that the button is a nit and we will be buying the button 88+% of the time. |
