I have a similar thing where I will take hours to fall asleep unless there is a TV or radio on in the background. Doesn't matter what it is or if i'm interested in the programme or not. I've found that if I sleep with a TV on all night I wake with a pretty bad headache. Anyone else? (Note, haven't read whole thread yet)

I've been playing poker for about 15 hours. It's 6 in the morning now and I still don't want to go to sleep. When I have nothing to do in the morning, I don't see the point when I'm running well...

I try to stop playing at a certain hour even if i'm playing/running well because it makes it much easier to stop when i'm not.

I've come to think of this as just a totally [censored] up psychological game.
When I know I have something important the next morning, I can't fall asleep. When I know that going to sleep right now will make me miss out on something I wanna do, I can't stay awake. When I want to shower or eat breakfast or get something done before i do whatever I have to do in a day, I can't convince myself to wake up. Whenever I decide "[censored] it, I'm not going to class so i can sleep," I always end up lying in bed awake for an hour and a half. On the rare occasion when my sleep schedule works out well, my life is sooooooo much better. I find that it's basically impossible to overestimate the effect of a good sleep schedule on your mood, ability to perform at work/school/poker, personability, etc. Even my appetite is better when I've actually been sleeping well. |

I agree with your Noah, a good sleep schedule is vitally important to a lot of daily activities.

Not wanting to go to sleep is basically the reason I started playing online poker and found 2+2. Basically the only time I would ever play when I started out was after 2 am when nobody was up and there wasn't much else to do besides go to sleep, which I didn't want to.

I have this problem too. In fact, I have been browsing this site for countless hours and should be sleeping. I often have trouble falling asleep even when I feel exhausted.
Does anyone else feel like their body and their brain are never on the same page wrt needing rest? |
