Nice trip report Mr. Wooster, for what it's worth, I tend to think that live cash games usually run just about as good as 4 times the limit that you're used to. Some places I've been to the 1/2 NL games with 300 max buyins run just about as good as a decent $25 NL game, which is actually 8x the limit.

So I've been playing on Party Poker for a little while now, and it seems like the games there aren't actually so soft anyway. Here is an example hand to illustrate how non-soft the games are:

Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

SB: $50.84
BB: $50.00
UTG: $45.94
Hero (MP): $75.24
CO: $52.00
BTN: $10.32

Reads: villain is expert.

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 Players)
UTG raises to $2.50, Hero raises to $7.00, 4 folds, UTG calls $4.50

Flop: ($14.75) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
UTG bets $15.00, Hero raises all-in to $68.24, UTG calls all-in for $23.94
Uncalled bet of $29.30 returned to Hero

Turn: ($92.63) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players - 2 All-In)

River: ($92.63) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players - 2 All-In)

Pot Size: $92.63 ($3 Rake)

UTG had J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (high card Ace) and LOST (-$45.94)
Hero had A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (a pair of Aces) and WON (+$43.69)

Never going back to ftp or stars lol

I know what you mean, but I am still very much a beginner (big swings, high variance), so playing cash live, though the games are generally very soft, is a bit too risky for me at the moment. However, when I am rolled for 50NL I will definately be back at the gutshot for some sweet cash game action.

Wooster, nice trip report. I did not realise that the empire has poker tournies, I will definitely check it out.

2p2 trip tonight?

[/ QUOTE ]

It might actually be quite fun to do that at some point, maybe next time I am in london I will try to rally some 2p2ers to take over the w/e beginners game at the empire, would be such fun

Full Tilts $600 first deposit bonus along with 33% rakeback is VERY nice. I wish that bonus could have lasted forever.
