All the rakes in FLORIDA are 10% with a $5 rake and it's standing room only these days down here.

Luxor has it now. 1 on 10, 1 on 20.

[/ QUOTE ]

And they only pay a miserable $20 for quads!

They have increased the max buyin to $100, but this remains the crappiest game in town, with their stupid 1:1:2 blinds.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is so very wrong.

The 1:1:2 game is a friggin' goldmine (for low limit NL). The "jackpot" drop is really a way of "paying" the regulars to prop the games by taking a drop for the "jackpot," then giving most of this back to players who put in XX hours per week at the tables. The regulars who show up for their weekly "Welfare Check" are generally amongst the worst "regulars" anywhere (other than Red Rock), and the tourists who play at Luxor set a new standard for stupidity.

Last I checked, promotional money was worth about $12/hour for playing 20 hours a week, which is pretty good and keeps the exceedingly predictable locals showing up to mix it up with the truly awful visitors.

Default Re: Red Rock & GreenValley rake rises - Stations?

This just in from LasVegasMichael:

"Just confirmed with Alan at GVR that their rake rose to $5 max, plus $1 jackpot this past Sunday.

Not sure if it is all Stations going this route or just Red Rock and GVR, but it appears that the increased rake is "spreading".

So far, these are the only two that are confirmed. Possibly rolled out there and Red Rock, before implementing it Station wide. "

Do most players even know what a rake is at 3/6 or 4/8? I'll bet if you asked a random table that more than half would not even have a clue.

[/ QUOTE ]

They don't. I was playing in 4/8 at Mandalay and table got down to 5 handed, so I asked for a rake reduction. Floor said we could get rake reduced, but they would also have to take out jackpot - so 2$-3$ less taken out per hand, but the table wouldn't go for it because they wanted to be eligible for the crappy high hand jackpot.

this has happened to me many many times in casinos and every time it happened it would make me so angry id also get myself barred. sure wish casinos would get rid of jackpots, but they wont cause the dealers love it too much, because all they think about is their goddamn tips.

Get off the soap box. You have zero clue why jackpots are in place and I'll give you a hint: It's not because of the dealers. This isn't a tipping thread, don't turn it into one. Please head over to OOC and let them know what you're thoughts about dealers and tipping are.
