soah, i'm curious. he's using the same name as you but he's had that name on liquidpoker for quite a long time and he isn't impersonating you or anything. i don't see what the problem is?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd never heard of him until yesterday and I've been using this name for online poker much longer than him. I've had a couple people contact me about coaching recently, apparently because of him. I imagine there are others who think it's me who just contacted him directly at lp for coaching (which would be the proper way to do it). Whether or not it's intentional, I'm sure my rep is helping him get business, and if people aren't happy with his coaching then it hurts my rep if they still don't realize we're different people.

I'd just register at LP with a name like 'soah2'. Then make a post saying that you're 'soah' at 2p2 and different from the guy who's 'soah' on LP. If people want to talk to you, they should PM you on 2p2. And then just let it lie.

I'm looking at buying a new massive/expensive TV, any suggestions?

[/ QUOTE ]

I have the Samsung DLP and agree with others, its the best as far as 61's go. I feel like the picture is brighter on my plasma, but its smaller and in a darker room.

I haven't met anyone yet with the Samsung that didn't love it. See if Costco still has them, thats where I got mine.

What are the differences between a DLP and a Plasma?

DLP is a type of rear projection set, it won't be real thin like a plasma or LCD (they're not real deep, but you certainly couldn't wall mount it or anything). Many new DLPs look really good and offer a massive bang for the buck.

However, in absolute picture quality, the best plasmas beat the best DLPs IMO. DLPs also don't have nearly as good of viewing angles as plasma (picture looks different/worse as you view it from off center axis). Go to a store and check them out if you're interested, some people prefer their smoother picture to flat screens. You can save a ton of cash and get a much bigger set if you like them.

There's also a back light bulb replacement issue, but I don't really know how often they need replacement or how much they cost.

the in store models are rarely tuned to color so i wouldn't recommend weighting in store viewing very highly. they just set them up out of the box and don't adjust the brightness or lighting for the room that it's sitting in.

in my experience the sony bravia xbr2/xbr3 are crazy good (LCD)

Definitely check with the experts. But going off memory:

My DLP is 17" deep and not wall mountable like a plasma or LCD (your other option)

Plasma has a better picture, but I have HD on both and the plasma just looks a little brighter thats all. The picture on the DLP is by no means bad. I don't have a problem with the viewing angle on the DLP. Its not like those old big screens where you had to be right in front of it.

DLPs have a bulb that costs about $300, and I THINK gets about 3500 viewable hours on it. A plasma is good for about 7 or 8000 viewable hours and then it fades and you have to trash it.

The picture in a DLP is made by tons of tiny moving mirrors. I think they are fixable if they break but it prob not worth it given that DLPs are cheap considering.

The picture in an LCD is made up of tiny pixels and if one goes you will just have a black spot on the TV forever.

I'm not sure about how the picture in the plasma is made.

Thats the extent of my knowledge. I'm sure someone else knows more.

gl finding something Jon.
