There is NOTHING anti-social about not wanting to deal with a bunch of idiot gossips.

There's so many elements of this story that would end with "please never talk to me again" imo.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation, on a good note, by being the bitch, you've gotten what you wanted. Don't play thier game, ignore anything said about you.

I live in a pretty nice house that I own and keep a roommate. One of my neighbors flat out accused me of dealing drugs. She assumes that because I don't leave my house for work everyday, that I must deal drugs. I didn't explain a thing to her, let her believe what she wishes.

Why is this not a thread of it's own?

My gf bought a couple unassembled Adirondack chairs, and has been priming and painting them over the last couple weeks. So she's got random chair parts scattered around our back patio, which is circled by a ~5ft high fence.

Two weeks ago, we got a note on our back door from "The Neighbors" telling us that our back patio was filthy, and asking us to at least keep our gate closed if we were going to be so messy. The thing is, with how the gate naturally swings shut, the neighbor to the right couldn't possibly see any mess, and no other neighbors have cause to walk by. The neighbor to the left is an old woman living alone, and I have no doubt that she's just been peaking over the fence, got bored, and decided to make trouble.

When we first moved in, my gf got a note on her car telling her that covered spaces were reserved for people that paid for them. The space came with our place, so she wasn't taking up someone else's parking space, so its not like someone had a direct issue with her car being there. Some "neighbor" just decided to leave a note within a couple hours of noticing something new.

People suck, and the less involved you are with random people, the better. If you don't care what your neighbors think of you, just be short with them all the time. If its clear that you want nothing less than to interact with them, they should stop coming up to your door. You'll still have to deal with them trying to look through your windows, but I don't know how you could avoid that no matter what you do.

Meh, who cares if they hate you? It sounds like the situation has resolved itself. You can now have a drink on the porch, sleep in past 8am, etc. without people bothering you.

Wow that sounds horrible, I thought my neighbors were [censored] for knocking on the door asking for chinese food recommendations.Really, them thinking your a bitch is probably the best thing that could've happened to you. I would follow it up by not telling your side of the story and generally being unfriendly. I'm with you, I'm not antisocial, but I see no reason I should be friends with someone just because I happen to live next door to them.

I'm with you DMC. I'd refuse to associate with rude gossips. Let them think what they will. In this case being tagged as "mean" may be +EV.

Maybe you should offer your thoughts to OP, then. I'm not sure how you can control neighbors deciding they want to peer through your blinds, but if you're brimming with ideas then you're going to be a great help to the thread.
