Roma have been tracking the Italy international for some time, but a serious knee injury derailed a potential move 12 months ago.

But this time round the Giallorossi have got their man, although Cagliari have kept hold of a 50% stake in the player while Roma sweetened the deal by offering Gianluca Curci and Daniele Galloppa on loan plus a payment of £3.5million.

"Esposito told me that he would have stayed at Cagliari forever, but playing for Roma was a great opportunity and I didn't have the courage to say no," Cagliari president Massimo Cellino told the radio program La Politica nel Pallone.

"Roma said they could not do anything insane to sign him and we had already reached a verbal agreement for David Suazo, so we decided to find a solution suitable for all of us," added the Rossoblu chief.

"Players like Esposito have stayed in Cagliari because of their affection and not for the money. Esposito earns £280,000 a year and has never asked for an increase, I felt I owed him something."

Esposito joins fellow Cagliari favourite Suazo - who has also been allowed to leave the Stadio Sant'Elia for Internazionale after showing immense loyalty to the club over the years - on his way out of the Sardinian outfit.

Even if that is true (which I don't agree it is), Eto'o is still two years younger. The previously mentioned Huntelaar may be the best pick of the three IMO (and it saves Eto'o for Milan!), but Arsenal aren't lacking in young, unpolished strikers.

Huntelaar is not "unpolished". He's 23 and scored 30 goals last year in a pretty good league. He's significantly far ahead of, say, Babel in terms of development.

I stand corrected. I hadn't looked at his numbers from this past season yet. Thanks. Any team should be happy to have him in any case, he is/will be a star whenever he gets out of Amsterdam.

that's not too surprising. A lot of his coaches have told him to stay at Ajax for another year or two and then go abroad. He is only 21 and if he leaves Ajax at 23 or 24, it's not really going to hurt his transfer fee all that much if he continues to improve at the rate he is(infact, he'll end up getting a higher transfer fee if he continues like this)

Munich is responding well to their disappointing season. Even after losing a couple of players (Hargreaves, Salidhaghpoahvainophcxiy, and Van Bommel I think) Klose + Toni + Ribery is a lot of class. I just hope Podolski doesn't get marginalized. He had a bad season, but he's pretty good.

Roy Makaay now enters the striker transfer pool? To AC Milan? Arsenal?

i know this isnt really transfer related. but does anyone know anything about Bojan Krkić? He is supposed to be like some sort of 16 year old god in the barca youth system. I dont know if this is a typo, but wikipedia says: "Bojan joined the Barcelona FC's cantera in 1999, and scored 889 goals in seven years."

theres a video on youtube but it really tells me nothing.
