I saw a couple good questions the rest have been [censored], Questions to a sub group (rednecks) of the white population is not equal to questions to a black man, unless you count men as a sub group. Can you see where I'm going w/ this. Also stereotyping 'Rednecks'or "poor white trash" or whatever is just as insensitive as any of the dumber posts I've seen today...do you see where I'm going with that.

Where did you grow up exactly? I had an Haïtian friend in school who's mother was very religious, i.e. no TV at home, very clean clothes(no jeans for example), very strict, etc, I thought it sucked and was sorry a little for him. Good fella.

What's your take on the Haïti situation? Is it improving or will it eventually in your opinion?

It wasn't that strict at my place, we just certain rules to follow. Our parents pretty much trusted us though.

Haiti, ugh. To be honest, I don't think it's ever going to be better. I think Western Civilazation will make Haiti pay for being the first black country to win their independance.

Black folks that want do and will continue, and actually that doesn't bother me, but

I try not to anymore. I say anymore because for a long time I did, but as I get older I realize just because I grew up doing it doesn't mean my niece and younger cousins should. it is hurtful particularly from those that do not understand what it's like to be on the business end of such a word, that's why it will never be ok in most black peoples eyes for someone who is not Black or of Color to use it.

I think there's validity to the argument that it has become a term of endearment amongst a lot of black folks, turning a negative into a positive, but other questions of self worth related to this issue persist.

It is offensive to a lot of people to think that some child who has not walked even a foot in the most pampered black persons shoes thinks they can just hop on the band wagon, with no understanding of the past, because the really love fiddy.

this is just my opinion and I am not qualified to answer for all black people. I'll send Al Sharpton this way next time I see him [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

At least, if you know the senses of humor of the posters you can tell. It took me a second. The jury is still out on iPot, even. Can't tell with that one.
