This is definitely low content, this is the only forum that I really post in, and this is something that I wanted to share...
This weekend I played in my 6th MTT ever and placed SECOND! It was live, it was limit, and there were ~100 entrants. First time in the money, first final table; it was pretty fun. Obviously, there was much luck involved, but I have to thank this forum for teaching me enough so that I didn't get in the way of that luck. Indeed, I don't recall having had to put my whole stack in until the last hand. Most exciting hand (for me) went something like this: There were ~23 players left, top 10 get paid. I have around 8 big blinds and am 2nd biggest stack of the 8 on my table. SB has almost a big blind, BB is all in. Folds to MP who has ~3 BB and raises. I see red 99 and 3-bet. SB pushes his stack in. MP calls. Flop: Tc 9c x MP bets, I raise, MP pushes the rest of his stack in, and I call. SB has KxQx, BB I don't remember, MP has AcQc, I have red 99. I'm feeling pretty good, until... Jc shows up on the turn. I who am generally pretty quiet start yelling pair the board, pair the board, and the river gives me a beautiful J. MHIG and I knock out 3. So it goes to show that in poker even the lame posters find acorns sometimes... Mr. C |

Congratulations.
A little luck at the right time never hurt anyone. 6 years ago, when the highest game I ever played in was 4-8, I entered a $500 buyin limit tourney. The first two hours, I got a huge rush of cards, and had about ten times the starting stack. The rest of the afternoon, I picked off short stacks, when they got desperate, and when we were in the money, I could tell that I was probably the least experienced player left. With three tables left, I am fairly shortstacked, UTG raises, and two players coldcall. I have KT of hearts, and think this might play well multiway. Flop AJ5 with two hearts. A raising war develops, and we go to the turn 4 way. The turn is a heart, and I get to threebet the turn, and then go allin on the river, and win one of the biggest pots of the tournament so far. The chips from that hand got me to the final table, and I ended up placing fourth. Some well timed luck doesn't hurt at all. |

Thanks James and Bob, I also enjoyed the fact that the play in the tournament was more "cerebral," than the typical 6/12 games I play. In general it seemed the players were more consistent and therefore more straightforward. For example, the tags were more taggish and the weak tights were weak tighter. I felt that there was more ability to manipulate the opponents as opposed to cash games where the LAGs and loose passives are flinging money in.
It was also nice to make monies! |

Tomorrow morning, I am leaving for a week of fishing with the boys. No computers. No poker, except maybe some .05/.10 getthewhiteguydrunkandtakehismoney. No wife. No kid. Maybe I'll come back.
Good luck play well. Bob T. |

Have fun, Bob!
So after getting 2 & 3-outed for the better part of forever in the ring games earlier, I decide to play some 2/4 HU. I wound up winning, busting the other guy twice, but that's not the story. I do believe he paid me some of the greatest compliments I've ever gotten on a poker table: XXX: u r a suckout artist in the making bro Harv72b: gg Harv72b: you play good, and you're right, I got very lucky XXX: at least ur honest ha XXX: ur just too crazy and unpredictible XXX: u r just too hyper [a]ggressive Honestly, with the exception of one hand where I runner runner'd a straight with 99 vs his AA (which he slowplayed preflop), I don't think I sucked out much at all. Most of the time I was squarely ahead from the flop on, if not all the way. Anyway, the combination of those comments & winning some cash have me all warm & fuzzy, so I thought I'd share. But being hyper-aggressive is so much fun I was pushing the table around, all of them folding a lot; then this hand happened, which I felt was slightly embarassing... unlimited action afterwards though.
