who can call for the clock in a tournament?

i thought it's only the players, right?
i played a tourney in my local casino tonight. the floorman and tournament director has a personal problem with me. so it happened twice this evening that he was standing next to my table and said "time, you have 60 seconds to make a decision" when i thought about what to do. is there a written rule somewhere? no player at the table asked for the clock.

I thiat a floorman can call for a clock. I had the situation in a cash game where a player announced that because he was angry at another player he was going to take as much time as he wanted. No player called for a clock but i called the floor who put the player on the clock and warned him that this wasn't going to be tolerated.

I can see the floorman calling the clock. But only in extrodinary situations (like psandman's story about the guy taking as much time as he wants). Or maybe at a tournament final table if you are just playing too slow.

Having one do it to you just to be a jerk is tough. I guess you could call another TD (if there is one). Perhaps someone complained to him privately? Are you slow?

Once a reasonable amount of time has passed and a clock is called for, a player will be given a maximum of one minute to make a decision. If action has not been taken before time expires, there will be a 10-second countdown. If a player has not acted by the time the countdown is over, the player’s hand will be dead.

Maybe their problem with you is that you take too long to make decisions?

My main with live play is that everybody seems to think they are at the final table of the WSOP and need to act the part.

With timed blinds, this is a real pain in the ass.

People that need over a minute to make decisions in poker should just give it up. You know there are people who play like, 20 tables at once right?
