Find a King Crimson live album from '72-'74 asap. [/ QUOTE ] Sex Sleep Eat Drink Dream is good, too, although much newer. Also, the greatest concert and album of all time in my opinion is The Band's The Last Waltz. It's got a bunch of incredible rock music, although a lot of it falls under Rockabilly, Blues, R&B, Folk and so on. Still, The Band + Van Morrison + Neil Diamond + Bob Dylan + The Paul Butterfield Blues Band + Eric Clapton + Muddy Waters + Neil Young + The Staples Singers + Joni Mitchell + Dr. John + Emmylou Harris + Ronnie Hawkins = Gotdamn that's some good music! I think you might like Government Mule. It is Warren Haynes' (Allman Brothers, The Dead) side project. Other members include Andy Hess (The Black Crows, Joan Osborne, John Scofield) Danny Louis (Joe Cocker) and Matt Abts (Dickey Betts Band)
They play music much like many of the bands you listed. The only difference is that the Mule is in its prime and at musically at the top of their game. If you have a chance to see a live show don't miss it, Warren is one of (if not the) best live guitarist playing today. Sco-Mule Lola Leave Your Light On Mississippi Queen (old 1999) if you only look at one this it, listen for the sick Cream tease about 4:45 in Mule.net band website |

You could always drop your preferences into Pandora and see what it comes up with. It matches pretty well new stuff with what you already like.

You input a song or artist and then they play similar songs. You tell them what you like and don't like and they mold the playlist to your preferences. It is awesome |

[/ QUOTE ] Congratulations, now you know what you'd been missing The Last Waltz is amazing; it transcends the sum of its pieces and those pieces are pretty damn good to start with. I am about to go out and buy the 2 CD set, again, because I have literally worn out the one that's on my car, now. SpaceAce |

That is the essence of ass-kickery! I have never used that site, thanks for the link. I put in one of my favorite Band songs and Pandora spit back a great Dr. John tune. So cool. SpaceAce |

How come Thin Lizzy always gets shafted when it comes to classic rock suggestions? It amazes me that they never became as big as some other bands from the same era. [/ QUOTE ] Amen. And if you want to check out a newer band with a lot of those classic rock elements, check out The Hellacopters - High Visibility or Strikes Like Lightning would probably appeal to your tastes. |

In Minneapolis we have quite a few good rock bands if you want some new stuff. Some bigger bands thrown in as well, I've seen all of them live and they really rock... Just suggestions as I like a lot of the classic rock you like. Down Lo God Johnson Hyentite Fancy Bastard Fat Maw Rooney Wookiefoot WBPN All Mighty Senators The Big Wu Umphrey's McGee String Cheese Incident [/ QUOTE ] How do you write up a "Minneapolis rock" list and leave out the Replacements and the Hold Steady? |
