I think it's a strange exercise though because I don't think there is much music that is sufficiently universal. If I were going to throw out one modern song off the top of my head, I might go with Roygbiv by Boards of Canada. So joyous. Erik Satie's Gnossienne #5 is wistful, melancholy and gorgeous, but I think a good recording is key. I heard one a long time ago that made me love the piece, but the recording I got since then really doesn't hold a candle to it. |
