Iam 25 5 10" ~185lbs. none of which is muscle. i used to be really active in sports in college and before. for the last couple years ive really done nothing but sit in front of the computer and golf. i started to run alittle bit last summer/fall maybe 2 miles or so a night, until i broke my ankle being a drunk retard. i want to start running again (have a few times this week) so i can lose my gut. ive been told i look like an old man. iam not really into going to the gym and weight training its all too boring for me. i dont care to be big, but wouldnt mind alittle tone somewhere. abs/chest
So my question is.. how far /often do i have to run to start to see results? i plan on running twice a day, about 2.5 miles on each side of my poker playing. ive always eaten like crap, but have been getting better recently. i have no idea how many calories or anything i consume a day. how likely is running like this alone going to make a noticable difference. what if i throw in a few other exercises a couple times a week. push ups / abs. |

Honest question: how many threads in this forum have you actually read?
And to not be a complete hater, the answer is diet. If you run a calorie deficit you will lose weight. If you run 5 miles a day and eat 4000 calories you won't, in fact you're body will probably recomposition itself to even higher fat levels-lower LBM. |

You can lose the gut easily enough by running but you will not "tone up" If you want definition, weight train. Weight training does not have to be boring either. I used to love to run and hate to lift weights now it's the opposite. For your calorie intake do a google search for calorie calcultors, they will estimate your daily goals, you may have to tweak these a little but they are a good starting point. As a rough guide: Cutting 10-12x our body weight(12 x 185) 2,220 calories/day Maintanence 13-15 x body weight Bulking 16-19 x body weight |

Funny thing, I just re-read my oatmeal label and discovered I've been eating 2 cups per morning on accident when I should have been eating 1. No wonder it always took me an hour and a half to finish my damn breakfast. I figured I just had a tiny stomach or something. Luckily I'm bulking.

Running will surely not tone you up, but it will help with the fat loss. If you want definition, there's no alternative to lifting weights. You don't even have to go overboard, just setup a simple routine where you do benchpress, squats, and pullups.
