[ QUOTE ]
I normally don't get this way, but to all those who are swooning on about "Andy Beal is a poker player with a million dollar bankroll," grow up and get a [censored] clue! Do you think a million dollar bankroll is something special? I can name a couple dozen people off the top of my head who have over a million dollar bankroll. In this day and age of poker, it isn't something that extraordenary. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. There are probably less than 10 players with a million dollar bankroll, possibly less than 4. Yes there are more and more millionaire players, but few keep that level of bankroll on hand for their games, most at the top levels keep less than 100BB. I was surprised to learn this from reading Professor Banker and Suicide King. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

[ QUOTE ] well he plays poker so he's a poker player. [/ QUOTE ] This is incorrect. See the previously posted link for details. [ QUOTE ] he has a huge roll (exact figure unknown but it's big) [/ QUOTE ] Rumor is that his bankroll is over one million dollars. [/ QUOTE ] OK, you're the second poster to use that exact sentence. I hope you're joking, because I would hope that everyone here would know that his bankroll would have to be greatly in excess of "one million dollars" in order for any of this information to make any sense whatsoever. Sorry, maybe my sarcasm meter is on the fritz. I dunno. |

In this day and age of poker, it isn't something that extraordenary. When you are worth as much as Andy Beal, the concept of a bankroll simply becomes whatever he decides he wishes to risk loosing. To a man like Andy Beal, a business transaction where he makes or looses $10 million is not unusual. [/ QUOTE ] You people have no sense of humor. Did you even read the link I posted? |

I heard Andy Beal has a $1 million bankroll, and that he counted to infinity... twice.

Beal is a rich hump who likes to play with the best. That's his choice but of course they're much better than him and have taken him for tens of millions. The end. |

[ QUOTE ]
buy a book called The Professor, the banker, and the suicide king and you'll be all caught up. [/ QUOTE ]Anyone who has not read the book should not be posting in this thread. Basically, Andy got the pros into a game so rich the pros were pretty much taking a shot. The pros got a little greedy, knowingly violated rules of bankroll management, and Beal nearly broke them. Sure, Ivey is great but a bigger bankroll can overcome skill. If Ivey has enough money behind him (like 10's of millions) then he can take Beal for a huge amount but if Beal keeps raising the stakes to the point that it changes Ivey's game, Beal has a shot to win even though Ivey is clearly the better player. |

Andy put up $20 million vs The Corporation's combined $10 million. That's how it started several years ago, and that's how it continues (in between Andy's multiple retirements from poker). They play hold'em and I think I read a few matches about 7-stud. Blinds are usually 30k-60k, sometimes 50k-100k.

[/ QUOTE ] the problem with this line of thought is that the money does not come from Ivey or anyone else in particular, it's a combination of pros risking probably less then they would playing eachother for 4k-8k. |
