I think I already said this in another one of your advice threads. Do seasonal work for the Forest Service. You will love it. Seriously.

Cardo,
"We would do well to dismiss all options involving heart, salesmanship or going that extra mile." "There are entire areas of knowledge / endeavor that feel like drowning in mud to have to deal with. So I get other people to know about them for me (agencies, forum threads.)" Since you don't appear to have any innate talents that will provide you with significant income without much effort, I pretty much think it's going to come down to you deciding whether it's worth getting yourself to be less lazy to be less poor. |

OP,
Your intelligence is negated by your attitude and work ethic, making you worthless. You can waste time on 2+2 and feel sorry for yourself, or you can man up and actually take action. Judging by your responses so far, you prefer the former. |

"I suck because I don't care" is nearly always a cop-out. You don't care because you don't want to because you suck. [/ QUOTE ] Cardo you said this in a different thread about people who can't spell and gave the excuse that it is just because they don't care. I can't spell cardo. I don't care and have never tried to learn. I was going to make a deal with you. I learn to spell and you learn to put effort into getting and doing a job. But I will never learn to spell that way so forget it. I will just do it on my own. And I am no genius. I had to use spell check to spell genius. [img]/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img] Why does my spellchecker tell me spell check is two words? This is going to be hard. lol |

You really sounded like you don't care. I really fear being poor. I always have because my family was poor when I was young. They worked harder than I ever have but they had less. You don't seem scared and you don't seem to care. I guess I just read my feelings into this.
I hope you can find enough people to tutor. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] I want that bold word to sound like red do I have to spell it different? I'm not paying for an answer btw. I will just google it. Irregular English Verbs!? Oh boy this is not going to be fun. |

I don't understand this idea that he's good with people. I've met him on two occasions. The first time, I didn't interact with him too much but he still came across as a little weird. The second time, we had more direct interaction and he came across as really weird, to the point that I felt very creeped out just being around him.
If he has/had people skills, they are as negatively affected as the other areas of his life by this apparent massive depression. He's definitely a smart enough guy, but comparing himself to Einstein is downright silly, especially considering his skills are in completely different areas from Einstein. Logic, math and reason are not your skills, Anacardo. From what I can tell from the (thankfully) fleeting moments we've spent together and from your ubiquitous posts in these forums, your skill set is limited to intelligently and prettily writing about your warped ideas. That's it. Your warped perspective, lack of mental discipline and apparent lack of any logical thought lead to some very strange ideas, for which you use your apparent intelligence to be able to see and describe every subtle nuance in an enviable manner. In short, you sling some sweet-smelling BS. Maybe you should try being a propagandist. Work for some government or politician. Most people are stupid. You can take whatever BS your employer feeds you and dress it up all nice and pretty and even intelligent-sounding and cram it down people's throats the same way you've been cramming your mental and emotional maladies down our increasingly jaded throats. At least you'll get paid to do what you do best, and maybe it'll take your mind off your mind for a while. |

Anacardo- As the guy who first introduced the only idea you like so far, I think that qualifies me as a kindred spirit. Also I'm a mid-20s life wasting "smart" guy who is busto despite a 4 digit post count.
You don't know that you suck. You do suck, absolutely, but you saying that you suck and you actually believing that you suck are two entirely different pieces of pineapple. Atlanta is a big ass city and you've got a college degree, [censored] all this [censored] about day labor or fast food, you should be able to get a job at some call center with a utility company or bank or similar. The pay will be better, the job easier, you'll get health insurance, etc. While you're working the late shift at tech support you need to figure out what you're going to do with your life. If you don't want a regular 9-5, fine, join the [censored] Army. College degree+lack of recruits= commission immediately. Maybe they'd beat some sense into you. I really doubt YOU'VE met 5 people as intelligent or self-aware as I am, but here's the thing: that's always going to be true. Call it the curse of reasonable intelligence. You're just smart enough to realize how [censored] stupid everyone else is but not smart enough to be curing cancer or building spaceships. Everything is going to be "beneath" you for the rest of your life, you're always going to be dealing with that sting. That's pride [censored] with you. Pride only hurts, it never helps. |

Anacardo,
As a man of intellect, you certainly prize ideas highly - probably higher than material things. And while it's tempting to go down with the ship of bad ideas, there has to come a moment when you realize that most of what you've believed or felt has been artificial already - your ideas are so that you can construct a certain kind of life for yourself. That life's not working out very well right now, so maybe it's time to actually examine what's been behind that lack of success. I don't think I agree with Burlap's furious re-training program - I'd rather submit myself to anti-depressants than do that, it sounds like some demented Clockwork Orange experience - I could never take such an endeavor seriously. Still, there's got to be a better way. |
