Ive been playing NLHE for a little over a year. I play micro cash games,10$ buyin. Im a winning player in this blind. Ive withdrawled alot of my winnings for bills etc, leaving myself with just enuff of a bankroll to play this stakes.
Its been a while since i sat and killed consecutively. Im not sure at what rate my play is getting worse but i def feel that im not getting better. I think my play is getting polluted by the madness one witnesses at micro,(havent really seen enuff of any other stakes to know if its that way evry where but ill take a guess and say theres less as you go up in stakes). Soooo,,, midway thru this post I glance over at my window sil and see Theory of Poker barely touched, bookmark 1/5 of the way into it.. It made me think, Well first thing i should do is quit this ridculous post and finish that dang book idjiot. I just was able to identify a leak in my game, self discipline. If i want to "get better" i need to learn from those who are better. I dont need to play with them, but why am i not observing them? well its more exciting to play BUZZ. Discipline danielsan ...Stay disciplined..You are only as good as you play. Good = money hooray for that |

It's Friday night, a lot of us are busy at the tables.
Yeah, discipline is probably the single most important trait to have in poker. As you seem to have figured out, not just at the tables but also away from them--putting in your study & review hours, reading, observing better players, etc. I'm not sure about how much this has affected the micro games, but at least in small stakes the games have also gotten much tougher since the UIGEA was passed & Party closed its doors to Americans. So that could also be having some effect on your results, as could a simple bad run of cards. |

[/ QUOTE ] My advice is to limit yourself to 1-2 chapters at a time. TOP is dry but you definitely want to absorb the material. I've had to do this myself with some strategy books b/c if I force myself to continue reading, the information doesn't stick. |
