[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] for all the people who wouldn't tell party about the cheaters they knew, would you at least tell the player "I know you are cheating, I want you to stop it, and if you ever do it again I will report you to party"? [/ QUOTE ] How bout it boys? A reasonable alternative has been laid before you. Or are you too cowardly yet or too fond of having the confidence of crooks and cheats to even do that? [/ QUOTE ] Ummmm....NO! I don't issue ultimatums to my friends that involve destroying their lives and their trust for me. I politely state my disagreement and let them decide for themselves what the correct thing is to do. [/ QUOTE ] Then at the VERY LEAST, you should refuse to be friends with such persons in the future and have no willing contact with them. To do otherwise gives reinforcement to their actions. But I know, you are too cowardly even for that. |

A post like this leads me to believe that you, and some of the other particularly irate and close-minded posters, have never had a friend and should not even be allowed to use the word.

[ QUOTE ] shaniac / curtains You are not seriously trying to equate a victimless crime with cheating people out of money are you? The two of you come of almost as bad as ZJ in this thread. J [/ QUOTE ] You are the one who says its a victimless crime. Thats your opinion, its not a fact. FWIW I think drug laws are too harsh as they are, I just came up with a random example. [/ QUOTE ] No it is a fact, it is up there with prositution as classic example of a victimless crime. [ QUOTE ] The point is that the law is not in place for you to decide whats important and what isn't. And if you do decide that you can pick and choose which illegal things are important enough so that you must rat someone out for them and which aren't, anyone else should have that right also. You are not an interpreter of the law nor is anyone else on this forum. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, this is as bad as ZJ's now infamous MHSNL post. You see there are these things called ethics and morals, I think El D has a book on them he's been trying to pimp. J |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Get the F over youself. Tell me a time you had a friend or family member come to you about something quasi-legal and you ran straight to the authorities. Or are you 17 with no real life experiences yet? [/ QUOTE ] suzzer, I have indeed had something similar happen with family or friends a couple times over the years. My terms when they told me were to make restitution or get ratted. They made resititution. And if I hadn't taken that action, then I would just be and aider and abbetor as you and shaniac are. I'm not going to be that kind of person and I don't want people making such confidences in me, because the severity of such actions confided will only grow over time and I would just allow myself to be a participating bystander. [/ QUOTE ] So who determined what was restition? You? Did they pay interest? What about the punishment being stronger than the crime? If I knew all I had to do was just pay restitution, and nothing more or no criminal judgements, I'd probably be a lot more likely to try it next time. Thanks for being so soft on me and not turning me in. Glad you were able to determine exactly where the moral line fell in this case. I will PM you next time I have an ethical crisis and want to know exactly how much to demand out of the perpetrator in lieu of turning them in. In case you don't see what I'm getting at here. Some might get up on an even higher horse than you and insist you are an aider and abettor by letting them slide off the hook so easily. Knowing how high of a high horse to get on is kind of a personal thing and not that easily determined. I don't think you're being fair on shaniac and curtains just because their line doesn't fall EXACTLY where yours does. [/ QUOTE ] My solution in the past was what either I or the wronged party considered a just restitution. But the question of how fair such is or to what degree is a punishment is of much smaller importance than the question of not doing anything at all when confided in about such behaviour. Similar to the difference between poker mistakes that lose a bet or the whole pot. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Playing 2 accounts in the same single table tournament would be an enormous advantage. Absolutely giant. I don't think playing 2 accounts in the same MTT makes much difference at all unless both accounts end up at the same table near the end of the tourney. [/ QUOTE ] I'll be the first to admit it if I'm wrong, but I would MUCH rather have single-entries in ten STTs than double entries in 5. (I think, at least.) It's just that dumping in a SnG doesn't double your prize EV. Or am I completely missing the point? [/ QUOTE ] The real advantage wouldn't be from dumping -- it would be from getting down to 5 handed and having both your accounts still alive (which would be something you could do fairly regularly with conservative early play). You would be able to get both of your accounts ITM fairly often. [/ QUOTE ] Yup I think you could manage to get two accounts to the bubble pretty regularly, and even ITM fairly often. Especially at the new speed tourneys where the bubble effectively comes suddenly and early. |

ZJ will be multi-account on party within 3 days. We know now that he will take all necessary precautions. Buy 10 new laptops, 10 verizon wireless cards and he is home free. The guy is a cheater, but a smart guy. He is losing money everyday not playing. He will probably start playing 3 accounts at the step higher 4's to recover his money fastest. Now who is going to beat the [censored] out of him at the first live event?

[/ QUOTE ] I am unfortuantely less moderate than shaniac in this matter, as these players having multiple accounts can directly result in me losing money. I don't find it reasonable to allow someone to do something illegal when that action will cost me something. The amount that it will cost me is unbelievably small, however it's not their place to decide that it's an acceptable loss for me. However I am not passing judgement on shaniac like everyone else here, I am merely stating my viewpoint. |

The bottom line here with all those in this thread and the JJ one who have either excused their behaviour to some degree or accepted their BS rationalizations, as well as those who refuse to act to stop other known cheats, is that you are immature people still stuck in the high school teen mode of trying to be popular and are willing to make any moral compromises to achieve that.
