this is at a hustler casino blinds 2 5 300 dollar buy in max

im semi new to the table i just got there and i have AK in BB

there were 4 limpers so i raised to 25

2 limpers and the SB calls so the pot is 100 dollars

Flop K85 all clubs I have no clubs.

SB check

i make a modest bet of 35 dollars just to narrow the field its a pretty dangerous flop so i just wanna cut the field down and get the stupid flush draws out. the table is obviously kinda loose

everyone folds and the SB calls

turns a 5 so board is k855 the 5 doesnt scare me but the check call kind of does i figure i wanna show this hand down for cheap so i just check (in retrospect i shoulda bet but i didnt expect the river to cause a odd problem)

river comes a 8 so now the board is 85k85 still with 3 clubs

pot of 170

the sb comes out with a 135 dollar bet immediatly.

i think for a while and i go well he might think i have nothing cus i didnt bet the turn so its quite possible he puts me on aq or just a flush draw but then i thougth any modest bet like half the pot would get me out.

so that bet really confused me. I feel like that would be a really really [censored] stupid bluff and that he would want a call. this guy had a moderate stack in front of him and i just fealt like i didnt know my player well enough to call here.

i folded thinking well theres just 2 many things that could have me beat, A8 with the ace of clubs. I could only really beat a flush and straight draws.

I show my lay down and he immediately says good laydown.

i then ask if it was a bluff and he said yes and thanked the dealer and made a real big spectical of making me think that he had nothing. he then procedes to tell me he had 76 with a club so open ender with a flush draw, but what idiot would draw to a 7 or 6 high flush draw right?

anyways i dunno I coulda just paid him off but it woulda been close to half my stack and figured it wasnt worth it and he wouldnt be dumb enough to make that play.

Anyways just wondering what you guys think

raise to 50 preflop ... pot the flop

You should raise more preflop. In a live game, after 4 limpers, 5x the bb isn't nearly enough with a hand as strong as yours. Make it at least 40 to go.

Your flop bet of $35 into a $100 pot is pretty much completely useless. Nobody is folding a good flush draw with those odds. Most live players will probably call with a weaker flush draw and some other piece of the board too. Make it at least $75 on the flop, you'll figure out where you stand much better. And if nobody caught the flop well, you'll probably take it down right there.

Turn check isn't great either (giving free cards on this board... not so good), but since you still have no idea where you stand, I don't think its terrible to keep the pot small. Of course, it leaves you open for:

river bluffs. You could call this river, as he could be on a very wide range at this point. Much of his range is bluffed draws, KQ/KJ, maybe a smaller pair like TT or 99.
Folding isn't terrible though, as you're not getting great odds, and there are lots of things out there that could beat you (since your small bets gave them every chance to do so.)

If the table is loose, your "modest raise to get the stupid flush draws out" sure as [censored] ain't doing that. River fold seems okay, but the way you played the flop and turn is the reason it is such a tough decision.

kewl yeah I really feel like i played the hand poorly on the turn but on the flop i feel like a pot would be over committing my chips beacuse 100 dollars would be over 1/3rd my stack

I could go broke with it but i usualy dont like going broke with just a pair. obviously if someoen comes over the top or cold calls then im completely through with the hand.

preflop again over commiting on a loose table its almost like 5 cent 10 cent sometimes these people were calling 50 dollar preflop raises it was rediculous.
