I just started playing in tourneys, mostly micro on stars.
I have an idea of a strategy. 1 thing bothering me is what my range should be with around 10bbs and blinds increasing in minutes. What hands should i be playing and how to play them? (raise ?x, fold or shove) and what position? my first post, ill get it right |

First in the pot in MP or later:
Shove - Any PP, ATos+, A7s+, 89s - KQs, 1-gappers QTs+. -Just have some awareness of who's left to act behind you..how active they are...how often they come in. Look for spots where the blinds have an average stack (or a stack that would be hurt if they call and lose). Be very careful when someone limps ahead of you (especially when the blinds are big, this is often a trap with a strong hand and they want someone to raise/shove). |

deuce- would 12bbs be premature to start shoving these hands?

For some of the weaker hands at the bottom of this range, yes. As important as your BB's, you need to be aware of your M-value.
M = stack / (total cost per orbit) 1 orbit is obviously one full rotation of the button around the table. So if all you post are a SB and BB, you're paying SB + BB every orbit. When Antes come into play, you're M will drop quickly as you need to add in the cost of not only the SB and BB when they come to you, but also the ante you'll need to post every hand. You have 2400 chips. 100/200 blinds 25 ante (9 players at your table) (9 * 25) + 100 + 200 = 525 per orbit. 2400 / 525 = 4.6 Your M would be 4.6, which is how many orbits at the current level until you go broke. You can look for a chart that give you an indication of how critical it is to make a move at what your current M is. In this case you're not hurting but you're not in a good spot, the next blind increase and you'll need to get it all in almost for certain. For more details on this you'll need to look in the Tourny forums or ask someone. I am not any authority on SNG/Tourny play. I do decent enough on my own but nothing stellar. |
