Tricky hand in 400 NL at Commerce, facing crazy overbet

400 NL at Commerce (blinds are 5/10). Been playing about 20 minutes. I have 1300, guy on my right has 4k, big stack for this game, average stack is around 1000. He is UTG +3 and raises to 35. I look down at the black kings and make it 100. Everyone folds and he calls. Not too much of a read on this player, he is tricky, will mess around with a lot of hands, but to call my raise he has at least a pair or 2 cards bigger than an 8. So 10,9 would be the absolute worst hand.

He checks blind to me and the flop comes J,10,9 all clubs. My first reaction was to bet out, but then I thought that there were so many hands that either beat me/have a good draw against me that I wouldn't be able to call a raise. So I checked to see the turn. Turn comes blank, 2h, and he immediately goes allin. Allin! Betting $1300 into a $200 pot. Very very strange move, I was quick to start to muck but then began to think about it. Went into the tank for about 5 minutes. Results to come.
PS Is my check on the flop ok?

since you wanted a response here's one

I bet this flop even though I think I'm not going to like what's going to happen next.

If this villian is going to call any 2 cards pair or over an eight you can reraise a bit more preflop.

For me this turn is completely read dependent (I have a tendency to fold rather than call without reads) however at least if you were wrong you should have decent outs.

you have to bet the flop. You took a horrible line and now you are stuck in this mess. His turn all in, i think i would call. I think he can have a wide range of cards right here because you didnt bet the flop and he might of sensed weakness.

OK, pot is $200, let's say I bet $150 and he reraises to 400. What do I do?
reason why I checked flop is because if I bet and get raised, I will still have no idea where I'm at. he could raise with the nuts, or with a good draw. And he was an aggressive and tricky enough player that on that flop, if I bet, I would almost expect a reraise. Betting the flop seriously has almost no good plus side. There is no info to gain.

if he raised me to 400, i'd probably push. In my opinion this is a pretty good flop for black kings. Its a very draw heavy board and there is a good chance your kings are still best. If they are not, you have outs.

Back to the question at hand. What to do when he pushes allin on the turn after a check check flop?

Which is different from where you are on the turn?

Just fold. It's a nothing pot and you have one pair. Let him do this when you have a better hand. You might be ahead of some things he could do this with, but I doubt it. As for betting the flop, I don't know. Often you should, but
that flop hits a lot of hands. By taking a free card you get a chance to improve and induce bluffs from him that you can raise. 1300$ pushes into 200$ pot on turn is not what I mean by induced bluffs though. This is likely two pair minimum.
