Is it just me, or does anyone else think Varitek looks really goofy wearing his pant legs up with high-top-ish cleats?

The thing about Chase is he really should NOT be pitching in the majors let alone vs. the Sox at Fenway.
The kid has 2 starts under his belt at Double A. Hughes has more expierence pitching there then Wright does. The Yanks were so desperate that they desided to wing it with him and hope for the best. I just hope they didn't [censored] him up in the head by doing so...cuz he seems to have some good stuff if he could get his control down some more.
I get the feeling Hughes will be in the rotation come mid season based on the way things are going.

Clemens is probably on speed dial right now...we just need to get things on track..have a solid series next week at home vs Sox and be within 2-3 games come May when Roger picks a team.

Roger/Andy/CMW/Moose/Pavano or Igawa or Hughes...would be a solid to great starting 5.

Plus add in a healthy Matsui.

Rivera's ERA in his first month the last few years. FWIW I seem to remember him blowing a lot of saves against the Sox in the spring, but not so much other months. (His season ERA in parentheses)

2003: 2.89 (1.66) (this is May, his first month that year)
2004: 0.63 (1.94)
2005: 2.70 (1.38)
2006: 3.72 (1.80)

Rivera's Walks/IP those years (Season W/IP in parentheses):

2003: .1 (.14)
2004: .5 (.25)
2005: .6 (.22)
2006: .2 (.1466)

Bump.

Dice-K v Pettite tonight.

The homer in me says the Sox sweep the series. The realist in me says the Yanks take 2 of 3 with Tavarez giving up 8 earned in 2.1 innings on Sunday.

Having Tavarez miss a start would be kickass.

At least with Tavarez I think there is a strong chance he beans someone. We haven't had a good brawl in a little while.
