Not mocking you in particular. I think the whole idea is ridiculous though. The feedback will still come from exactly the same people whether it's on 2+2 low stakes or 2+2 high stakes. Unless you password the forum, then that's a different matter.

Again, this hasn't been the case with other forums like MHNL or HLHE. Why do you think that STT will be different?

[/ QUOTE ]
Because there are many many more mid and high stakes NL and limit players on twoplustwo than mid-high SNG players. When we split HUSH (shorthanded limit) a few months back, it was because not only was it a high traffic forum but a large portion of the traffic was discussing limits that would become the domain of the mid-high forum after the split. There was a thriving and very active sub-community of mid-high players within HUSH who wanted their own forum. There is nothing like that here. STT is a high-traffic forum, but almost all of the traffic is from people playing low stakes games.

I wouldnt mind a high limit forum, however all posts originate on the front page. By this I mean that you would post on the regular SNG forum, but all hands involving buyins of $109+ (or $215) will be moved to the high stakes forum and will be shown there also. This would help unclutter things for those who really care about this, yet would still allow top players who don't mind the clutter, to have a reason to still read some smaller stakes posts.

All of the discussion about the forum going downhill is silly. When I first joined it seemed like every thread was gold, because, to me, it was. This is purely a function of reading something new. If anything, the forum may have gotten better because we, as a group, have developed a language of our own that has allowed us to "cut to the chase" on many subjects. What used to take 1 long post now can be conveyed by saying "PVS" etc... (just an example).

As far as splitting goes, I think the decision should be based soley on there being a critical mass to do so. If forum traffic has gotten so heavy that it would be "easier" on the human brain for it to be subclassed, then go ahead and do so...I know that "I" for one would surely miss having access to the upper limit players reply on the 2 hands I post per 3 months, but, its no big deal as I can still read whatever I want.

Any other reason besides the sheer number of members making a spilt necessary smells of snobbery...but like I said, I play below the 109s or their equivalent, so maybe I'm biased.

Yeah okay Ive changed my mind, Im definitely in favor of a split. Look at the front page, its ridiculous. The interesting hands get buried way too fast.

Default UPDATE

Just got a PM from Mat, no matter what is decided there is no way a split will happen for at least 2 weeks due to an upcoming forum upgrade.

LOL the social posts seem relentlessly to come from the higher stakes players, some of whom make no other posts. There's no way they're staying in the low area. They're coming with the high stakes players because they're the ones that make them.

That is a bad reason. This will continue to occur with split forums, but merely at a slower rate. In fact, in the lower stakes forum it will happen at a similar rate.

If hands moving to page 2+ is the reason discussion is supposedly "down" then we have greater collective problems than there not being a split. Again, I am opposed to the split for mostly selfish reasons, but I also have not seen any rationale besides "too lazy to click".

FWIW, I'm lazy too...

Unlike many of you nOObs, I've been on the Internet since the beginning.

I've seens forums like this come and go over the years, and inevitably forums migrate from primarily content-based to primarily social-based because, as a poster on another forum once said, "We said everything there was to say about XXX (the topic of the forum) a couple of years ago. Now we just hang out."

I think for a while I was a reasonably well-respected poster. Replying to posts was a way for me to clarify my thoughts, learn something new if I was wrong about something, and help serious players trying to improve.

But now I feel like I have most of the strategy down cold, and I've largely stopped responding to low-stakes strategy posts because I can only say "Bet out, fold to any significant heat" so many times before my head explodes. Although I'll occasionally grab a post that nobody else has responded to.

So the point of all this is that the social-based nature of the forum will continue and probably grow because SNGs are very well understood at this point and the group as a whole has pretty much said everything there is to say about them. Regardless of whether you split the forum or not.
