the place to do this is in vancouver at Shabusen. Just went there for like the 15th time this weekend (before heading up to whistler). All you can eat sushi (sashimi + nigiri + rolls), japanese food (gyoza, tempura, agedashi tofu, etc, etc), and korean bbq (beef, shortribs, spicy pork, spicy mutton, etc) ... all this for $20 canadian. [/ QUOTE ] How is sushi in Vancouver so cheap? My gf and I went up there a couple of weeks ago and ate at Samurai - the bill was $32 Canadian including biru for me, and neither of us is a slouch at sushi consumption. The average place around Seattle runs us $50+ USD. Anyway, still waiting for my opportunity - not going to engorge myself like that in front of the gf, and my best sushi friend just lost his job. I have a friend that wants to do omakase at Mashiko, so maybe I'll parlay that into consumption of mass quantities. |

well I went out for some sushi.
I am 155 lbs, and 6 feet, not a very big eater. 1 bowl of miso soup 3 pieces of rainbow roll (1 piece = ~2.2 nigiri) 9 pieces of nigiri 6 pieces of uramaki 3 pieces of temaki - very small pieces btw several cups of tea This was not a a competition style sitting; I was eating w/ some friends, and not paying for the session, so I just ate what I usually order. I was very full however, and feel that I had eaten about 78% of what I was capable of. maybe 6-9 more pieces of nigiri and thats it. Will report my next sitting. |

john,
1 big rainbow roll piece I'll give you credit for one piece of sushi. The smaller maki I give you credit for a half piece each. That puts you in the unofficial lead right now with 17 pieces. I do not see that holding out long. I think for official purposes, maybe only nigiri will count. |

All, I think the winner will be between 75-100 pieces. [/ QUOTE ] That figure seems almost unattainable. The most I've ever eaten was 30 pieces of nigiri. It was all omakase and the pieces were fairly substantial. I can't imagine eating over double that amount. I weigh about 165. If anyone has seriously eaten 50+ pieces of nigiri, then how big are you and how did you feel afterwards |

El D,
I will drive up from Sacramento to participate. I regret I didn't see this thread sooner. I actually had sushi for lunch today, ate about 12 pieces from rolls 2 pot stickers, a plate of calamari and hot and sour soup. If only I would have seen this thread earlier. |

"When he returned from the frigid lower Manhattan elements, he couldn’t get warm for ten minutes. Clearly, all of Nigiri’s blood was in his belly." |
