Default levon helm

im big fan of the band and im wondering if im out here in the cold. the night they drove old dixie down is one of my favorite tunes. choppin wood= confederate $$$??

The Band is amazing, listen to as much as you can.

As for the lyrics, I don't think you are right. "I don't mind chopping wood, and I don't care if my money's no good."

First line - life will be hard
Second line - confederate money is worthless

I've always been partial to Stage Fright myself.

Saw him at the Beacon last month and he put on a great show. He played several Band classics and also did a great rendition of Springsteen's "Atlantic City".

I entered this thread expecting a "Paging Cardo" post and I wasn't disappointed!

My opinion is that The Band is the all-time most underrated band. Followed by Cream...maybe. The Band and Dylan together was greatness too.

I thought his voice was great, amazing considering he had the bout with throat cancer. Just an all around great show.
