Default Keylogger Found

I randomly just scanned my computer for unwanted programs with Mcafee, and I think I found a keylogger. I promptly deleted it, emptied the Recycle Bin, and changed my FTP and PS passwords. Anything else I can do?

Not really. Everyone should use either a seperate computer or a mobile rack. It's crazy not to.

To be truly safe you should reformat. That may sound nitish, but it could be the case that Mcafee removed the keylogger but the stealth trojan/worm/whatever that installed it is still around. Personally I would never be comfortable using a computer for anything of consequence if it had at one time been infected.

That said, you could try the following to cleanse it:

boot into safe mode

scan with Mcafee, spybot search and destroy, lavasoft

run rootkitrevealer

run hijackthis and post the log on say majorgeeks and have some gurus take a look at it

I hope you changed your PWs from a different computer, and not just your computer after you deleted the keylogger.

I just bought and downloaded a keylogger to track my wife and kids use. Is there any threat or danger in that? Does the company I purchased from have any access?
