I agree it's a cliche and I didn't state my opinion well. In more discrete terms:

Love isn't roses and valentines day and long walks on the beach.

Love is paying the bills, getting up with kids in the middle of the night, taking care of one another, all the day to day things that it takes to make it.

It doesn't mean you always put your needs last, but that you're part of a team.

People often confuse infatuation with love.

I just passed the point where I've been married longer than I was single. Weird, but good.
