every time he steps on the line to attempt a would be 3 (but actual 2) and bricks, i want to shoot someone. (delonte that is)

also....it's really sad that i'm still watching these games.

allan ray, leon powe, and kevinnnnnn pinckney just don't seem like they should be playing in the nba.

on the bright side, bassy had his first good game since like november.

I don't care who the coach is as long as he doesn't jerk around the minutes of guys like Jefferson and Rondo who are CLEARLY better than the guys who played ahead of them at the beginning of the season.

It is a players' league, but the right players need to be on the floor.

That means lots of Pierce, Big Al, and Rajon Rondo. Less Gomes, Bassy, and Scal next year plz.

I can't agree with any plan that includes less Gomes.

I'm surprised that anyone who has watched as many C's games as you have, GKA, can not want Rivers out of there. Every time I see a Boston game, I seethe over how poorly coached we are.

All the sudden there seems to be this pro-Doc backlash that I can't quite explain. Some of it might be sympathy due to the situation he's in; "he's a good coach they're just too young." No.. he's awful. He seemingly never has a plan, the offense has had no flow for 3 years, and his player rotations are just horrendous.

If we are lucky enough to land Oden or Durant, Doc's not the guy I want coaching him. Let's not forget how often he yanked out Al his sophomore year for Raef [censored] LaFrentz, just because of some blown defensive rotation.

Aces,

While I like Gomes, he is what he is. An undersized forward who works hard but in the end is pretty average. I like him fine as a back up, but he shouldn't be getting more than 20 mins on a winning team.

I'm with kidcolin. The team often reminds me of my other favorite team on offense: Illinois. That's not good. They just swing the ball around pointlessly. One of the problems is that Al J just doesn't pass well enough out of the double team yet, but the team doesn't run an offense well.

Defense is just as bad... lotta blown rotations and lazy on cuts and screens.

This is a very fair assessment and I'm sure it's along the lines of what GKA meant. As a Gomes fanboy, however, I have to try to get as much burn for my man as possible.

Back to Rivers: One of the things that has kept my spirits up for the past two years is the knowledge that we'd be rid of Doc sooner rather than later. I have been critical of his hire since Day 1 and my opinion of him as a coach has grown worse throughout his tenure. The thought that he is with us for the long haul is crushing to me.

I really don't get the extension from the franchise's stand point. Let's forget about whether Doc is as bad as he seems.. he DID win a coach of the year award with Orlando (not that it carries a ton of merit, but still). I actually think he's OK. Give him a decent team with some vets, and they'll do decent.

But from last summer through the first half of this year (when everyone just gave up completely), the fans were calling for Doc's head. Big time. I just don't see how it's not in the front office's best interest to move on. It's not like they'd be turning away an amazing deal for a great coach. They'd be turning away an average coach at best. You bring in a new coach, you get some hype about it, fans look forward to a fresh start, and you see how the season plays out.

Now with Doc, he's got no leash to work with from day one. If the Celtics are down 15 in the 4th of the very first game next season, there are going to be "Fire Doc" chants going on. I don't see how that's an ideal way to start the season with a young team. It really just isn't making any sense to me.

kidcolin,

Good points about this from the front office's standpoint. I'll spare you my rant about why Rivers is terrible -- it's not much you haven't heard before and it's only going to get me riled up.
