I was wrong about the white space, I looked at Dids and ElDs posts and saw the white space and didn't realize that they both entered a blank line between text manually.

- better conversion of PM database. There's no reason whatsoever the deleted PMs should transfer.

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't see any deleted PMs on the transfer, but what I did see were all my sent messages. I am guessing that messages that were sent and not deleted by the other parter were showing. PMs I deleted might have been there some palce as the performance was such that I wasn't really able to go through all of them.

This sidebar is like 10x better. The forums stick out, and the links changing colors after you visit is great.

[/ QUOTE ]

I liked the new sidebar, but I think another good change might be some larger font sizes.

[/ QUOTE ]

I made a post seconds before the rollback explaining how I think Ryan can fix the font sizes. Its a CSS Style Sheet coding issue, the developers used fixed font sizes in the code rather than relational font sizes using the em tag. An em is a unit of measurement in the field of typography, equal to the pt size of the current font. This unit is not defined in terms of any specific typeface, and thus is the same for all fonts at a given point size. So, 1 em in a 16 pt typeface is 16 points (copied from Wikipedia). The same unit of measurement can be used for linespace. for example if the font size for Tahoma,Geneva,Arial,Helvetica is 1em, you can make the line 1.5em - making the space in between each line of a paragraph 1.5x the current font in width. Luckily its mostly find/replace and test. It shouldn't take long at all.

Well I loved the new software and I really hope it can be fixed soon so we can do a permanent upgrade.

Also, crappy that I lost a nice BBV thread/brag about pwning limit holdem recently.

- don't deploy the update in such a fashion that Chuck is sleeping when it's first getting hit by new users.

I liked the new software a lot, and hope we can get this to work.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hey, I was up a long time doing nothing but deploying the new software on Saturday. I resemble that remark.

[/ QUOTE ]

I only reference that because once we found a few bugs (around midnight) Ryan mentioned you were likely asleep. I don't blame you, I'm just not sure it's ideal.

chuck,

are we going to have the ability to search pms in the new software?

i just realized this for the first time post migration. i'd love to be able to search for read receipts and do a select-all-delete on them

Idea for search stress testing: scavenger hunt game.

1. Come up with something for people to find. Say, a pic of Mat's gf, or a cupon code for $1 off a 2+2 book or whatever.
2. Cut the object into a whole lot of pieces.
3. Talk to Stuey. He's good at coming up with clever clues for people to find things.
4. Edit old posts on the archive server to now include the pieces of the thing in step 1. The more pieces, the more stress testing, but the more clever Stuey has to be.
5. Post about this in OOT, BBV4Life, ATF, and wherever else you feel like it.
6. ...
7. Profit!

On this software, it looks like the one line posts are centered vertically, where on the new software they are put at the top.

BTW-

For the new software- don't waste any time with the bolding unread posts thing.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why? That was one of the big complaints people had.
