Default Could we get a firewall setup sticky?

I am by no means a computer expert and I often have difficulty in making decisions on what to allow and what not to allow through my firewall. I currently run ZA Pro and often wonder what the optimum setup is for playing online. I have experimented with killing everything but the poker client when I am playing, but I have to go back and "reset" everything to normal to do anything else.

Does anyone have any recommendations or could someone point me to a thread that does? If so, I think it would make a great sticky on this board, perhaps as part of a larger "internet security" sticky.

It's hard to answer this. Each application has it's own needs for ports that it uses. You need to figure which ports it's using and allow those through the firewall. To be more specific is difficult.

I used ZA briefly before getting norton internet security and I dont fully remember how to setup. I like norton because it locks everything down, and then as programs need access it asks you if its ok.

I want to say that zone alarm does this but I cant remember. As stated above each program does things on differnet ports. Your best bet is to let ZA do its job, only allow the programs that you want to access the internet. If your super worried about, look into a hardware firewall or router as well.
