Hand against Empire2000: He was playing well & kind of aggro. Turn suggestions? River suggestions?

I'm sure this is pretty basic, but why not repop it on the flop?

Man, I don't really have a suggestion for either the turn or river. About 2.5:1 on the river call. Your flop line is pretty strong, and every draw in the world has come in.
I think folding is right here, but history could make this a call. I am having a real hard time putting him on a hand you beat (any hand really). If he floated on the flop and is just stealing the pot from you here, that is a hella ballsy play. But he continued against two players with a dangerous flop, and your checkraise with someone acting after him on the flop is nothing to take lightly, (especially when most of your semi-bluff hands come in on the turn.) Does he think you are likely to go for a c/r with a flush on this turn (or c/c)? Would you check a straight on the turn a lot? I could see him having AAd here, maybe. Can he raise on the end with 9T? 77/88 are other hands I could see him having, but again that is a balsy river raise with those if you can check a flush on the turn. Maybe Ad8d could play this way. Damn, I don't know. I probably end up calling because I am really confused here. I really hope you called so I can see the results. I think a bigger set or Ad8d are most likely here (maybe Adxd). Ay ay ay. Also, leading the turn/folding if raised/cursing if called may be a good idea if that fits with how you would play a hand like Adxd for some x (maybe nfd+gs on the flop nfd+overs). |

I would have bet the turn, I do not really want to leave a free card. But, I would have had a tough decision, as well, if he had pushed all in (it could have been a semi bluff or a flush)
On the river, it is indeed very tough. Of course, it depends on the history of this player and particularly of how you played with him so far. Can he think that you have something like A7 and you could pay him off on the river?. If he is a tricky player, I will just let this hand go. I think he has got unfortunately AAd, because he checked the turn as you left him a free card and he probably thinks you did not c/r with a flush draw on the flop (Does he think you are capable ot that?) and because he is aggressive, you will pay him off with 8X AX or better. I hope we will see the end of the hand |

once he calls the flop i would expect him to either be drawing or have a made hand which he is not putting any more money into the pot once the diamond hits, so i would check the river.

I'm pretty sure Roman reads you for a set here. So he is trying to not have lots of variance and waiting for the board not to pair so he can pop you on the river, therefore PWNING you. Now that this has happened you can call because all PS money goes to Roman anyways.

Great hand.
River is interesting (up until then it seems v standard). Roman is a very good player and I really like his game. If you check here, he will value bet pretty thin. Im not sure if he bets like QQ or something on the river, but he might? More importantly, he will bluff a shitton on this river when checked to. Depending on the flow, I probably really dislike your river bet. Roman can A) Move in as a bluff, B) rarely call with worse. Plus if you check he will A) value bet an ace that he might fold with to your bet, B) Bluff, C) rarely call with worse. Because good players have no fear value betting, I feel like you really dont lose that much value by checking is the bottom line because they will put in the money for you, and you avoid the trouble that is presented to you here. I hate when people take lines that avoid tough spots, but honestly here is a spot versus a good player that I might lean towards a more conservative line. As played, I honestly have no idea what to do, I think I expect roman to bet on this turn with a flush most of the time. But its a chicken and egg type thing because he knows you will know that so he takes that into account but you also know that blah blah blah. I find this spot really hard to bluff in though, but Roman is a very strong player and I dont put it past him. -Jason |

To be honest, I expected to see a lot more passivish and check-raise river lines in the current state of online poker because all the very storng players value bet thin.
