crisp and varitek both look awful to me. outside of his first pitch single, coco has looked completely lost (i'd be interested to see what % of his swings are misses at this point)

varitek...yea. 35 y/o catcher w/ bad knees. pretty much sums it up.

thankfully PECOTA, ZIPS and most every other forecaster feel different.

i dont see why you dont 'see' him being an 800 ops player, when hes already done it twice and hes 27...

well of course projection systems are going to like him, it was only 2 years ago that he had a good season @25 years old. i'm sure the projections for last year were even better.

its just what i've seen. he looked terrible last year, he looked terrible this spring, and he looked absolutely lost in k.c.

i'd be ecstatic with .280/.340/.460, i just don't see it happening

Want to hear a typical Red Sox fan? Told you so about Lugo.

Want to hear a typical Red Sox fan? Okay, this guy is growing on me, at least his interviews anyway. I've heard two now in the last two days and after the interviewer thanks him he says "okay, my man".

Ahhh, you got to actually hear it to appreciate it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe they can dig up Jimmy Myers to interview him (he's not still floating around the Boston tv sports media scene, is he?).

I'd love to hear Jimmy Myers do a story on Matsuzaka: "When you've got the 105 mill, you have GOT the 105 mill!"

Stupid question: Is this a "contract year" for Manny?

(Please say yes, please say yes...)

You're kidding right? You actually think Manny would even know what he was supposed to do if it were a "contract" year.

Btw, it's not. He's got 1 more year after this year on the original deal and the Sox have a club option to extend him for an addtional 1 or 2 years after that.
