Gaucho made a mistake in his blog out of frustation, he admitted to it, so give it a break...

I think Strassa was definitely +Ev in that game, and I think anyone who could afford to would back him in that game without hesitation. That being said, I agree that Gauco made a poor decision if he couldn't handle the possible swings involved.

[/ QUOTE ]

i think jason was definitely +ev vs. that lineup, which is why i made the decision in the first place. that said, i wasn't prepared to handle the swings, and was very frustrated at myself for my underestimation of how much it would hurt if i lost, which was a very real possibility given the variance of the game...2 buy ins is nothing in that game. lesson learned. strassa and i are good friends, we talked, and he accepted my apology. move on plz.

Why is Strassa even getting staked for this game, I thought he had tournament winning monies?

Wow, here Strass comes across as a guy asking for a stake, not demanding, not tricking, not shooting any angles to get a stake in a game he thought (and probably did) have an edge in.

Gaucho comes across like a spoilt kid who wanted to take his bad decisions out on someone else.

Its like the teenage boys who snitch on their PE teachers that are nailing them.

Man, the thought process is incredible here. In your blog you wrote it was a terrible decision. Well in all honesty it was prob pretty close to neutral ev. It didnt work out so what. If I make what is a good bet and lose I'm happy.
I got my money in good and that's all that matters. I am frequently amazed that generally intelligent people are very bad at grasping gambling oriented concepts. Gauge the ev of a situation and forget about results. Even later when you say you won 23k, well I guarantee you ran very well. If you had lost you would be saying what a poor decision it was to play when you were upset

LOL. It's not results. If he had won, I still would have been upset at myself for risking so much. Yes, it was +ev, but I could also put all of my investments in one blue-chip stock that was relatively +ev, or I could play every 10k donkament in sight, which I'm probalby +ev in over the long run, but I don't. I was upset at myself for my underestimation of my risk tolerance in a single investment, simple as that. NOTHING to do with my estimation of his ev in the game. simply put, he was +eV in the game, but the variance was pretty high. that will affect the overall value of the investment. variance in poker is like beta in stocks. it's implied/natural volatility will affect it's average price (or value of my investment in this case).

I think everyone here is well aware of that.

I think the point is that it isn't wise to "gamble" at stakes you are not properly rolled for or capable of handling the swings of. I think you would agree that putting your entire life savings on a 60/40 gamble would not be very wise, no? Furthermore, if you lose that 60/40 gamble, you would be very very unhappy and upset, no?

If you have 500k+ and make a bet where you happen to lose 40 of it, I would not consider that to be a "truly horrible life decision"

You are the man, Strassa. I do everything the same as you in this whole situation.
