ha.. that's a major walk.

mandatory Cs update: not to be outdone by Milwaukee's tank attempts, Al Jefferson reportedly banged knees with Gomes in practice today and will miss tomorrow's game. No Pierce, no Al. Eat that Bucks.

i really think milwaukee/boston should have agreement to split their upcoming two games.

anything else will make me feel dirty.

looks like the great gadzuric-scalabrine rivalry (of ucla/usc lore) will be deciding this one. that and the chess match of doc trying to maximize the number of minutes that allan ray "checks" michael redd.

Zach out for season, Lamarcus out indefinitely, starting four rookies or 2nd year guys. Losing to Memphis at home. HOW ARE YOU GUYS STILL TANKING BETTER??!

anyone else really hate the lottery? I think its a joke that the worst team from the previous season DOESN'T get the #1 pick.

BTW, no one tanks like the Blazers.

It HAS to be in place, it isn't fair otherwise. In the NBA, 1 player can change a franchise, this isn't true in any other team sport in the USA. With 1 player who plays probally 40 MPG of the possible 48*5=240 regulation minutes you can literrally change a franchise while in the NFL, MLB, NHL it's almost impossible to change a team by just adding 1 player.

You mean you want tanking to be rewarded to even higher degree than it is now?

Exactly. I liked it even better before they weighed it more heavily in favor of the poorer records. As has been said, one player can make way more difference in this sport than others. To reward it to the worst team by default is a bad idea and could lead to some really embarrassing lineups down the stretch by the worst teams, and let's not forget fans paid money for those tickets and probably deserve better than a glorified NBDL contest.

What you could end up is teams blowing 2 seasons to get 2 superstars. A team could potentially this year blown there team up to get Oden then next year blow their team up to get someone like Rose, Beasley or Gordon and set their team potentially up for 10+ years. They could potentially do that now but it wouldn't be guaranteeed. Even if you go 0-82 you aren't guaranteed to get Oden.

Honestly who does *not* taking benefit? The fans who are at late-season games looking for a win that doesn't mean anything anyway?

capone0,

The salary cap also serves as a counterbalance against stocking up on stars. Sure, you could land the #1 pick two years in a row and by some miracle they could both end up living up to their promise and coexisting peacefully, but if you're doling out $15M+ per on two guys that doesn't leave much room to build a supporting cast. I guess at some point a Steinbrenner-esque owner could come along, happy to pay the luxury tax in order to build a dynasty but for now the system is pretty solid as it is.
